CC Vs. Cedar Rapids Titans
VENUE: Holiday
Park, West Des Moines
RESULT: Elite
CC beat CR Titans by 68 runs. Third win in a row for Elites this season.
Toss: Won by
Elites; elected to bat.
Elite innings:
Elites went
into the game without Sunil, Prakash Sr. and Sashank. Elites tried a
new opening pair of Suresh (2) and Vijay Srinivasan (0). It turned out
to be disastrous as both of them got out in the first over to Venkat
Krishna. Krishna (11) and Prakash Jr. (40) steadied the innings before
Krishna ran himself out to a direct hit. Elites were in a spot of bother
again. In form Ganesh walked in. Both Ganesh (60) and Prakash played
very sensible cricket, not trying anything silly at the same time keeping
the scoreboard ticking. Both of them looked as though they would go
on and bat through. But finally, both got out slogging. Adarsh (17)
and Hari (31) continued the assault on the Titans’ bowlers before
Adarsh was bowled by a slower one. Some excellent hitting by Hari and
Ramesh Sr. (18*) boosted Elites to a good 244 for 7. Venkat (2 for 48)
and Senthil (2 for 21) shared the wickets.
Titans’ innings:
Venkat (23)
and Parvath (36) opened for Titans. Even though Venkat trying slogging
the Elite bowlers early, it was clear that the batsmen just wanted to
stay without really going for the runs. Elite bowlers bowled a good
line with some lively pace but could not find wickets, though they rattled
the batsmen with body blows. Finally, Venkat could continue no longer
and retired hurt, Elites still in search of a wicket. Ramesh walked
in and started slowly but loosened up to some good hitting to end up
with 67. Finally it was the slow bowlers Vijay (2 for 30) and Ramesh
Sr. (2 for 17) who did the trick and picked up wickets. Titans batted
through and finished with 176 for 5, Elites winning by 68 runs.
